Shahrahzad began her dance training in ballet, jazz, modern, tap,
highland and musical theatre. She is a graduate of the Dance program at
Grant MacEwan College and has worked as dancer and choreographer for
professional dance companies such as the Brian Webb
Dance Company, Mile Zero Dance,
Alberta Dance Theatre and Akimbo Dance,
which she co-founded with Kim Harris in 1993.
In 1995, Shahrahzad discovered the beauty of Middle Eastern dance and
began studying with Linda Meyer. She continued to pursue her new passion
with teachers such as Morocco,
Hadia,
Yasmina Ramzy
and Yousry Sharif.
In 1998 she formed the Dancer's Guild and later became a member of the
wonderful troupe Adelpha in Calgary, Alberta.
In 2004, she began a student troupe Banat Tariq, which is currently
performing around British Columbia.
