 Amani Jabril

Interweaving culture with superior dance skill, Amani is in great demand as a performer and "rising star" instructor. Ms. Jabril is best known for her fluid and deeply sensual style of dance along with her creative sense of character and drama. From a very early age, she was trained in ballet and jazz as well as studying theatre. However, Amani found her true passion in the art of Oriental Dance. Since that time, she had studied (and performs) various dances from around the Middle East and the world. Amani employs a multifaceted approach of performing, teaching, and writing about the fascinating dances and people of the Middle East while focusing on the unique experiences of immigrant groups in the United States. Complementing her dance career, Ms. Jabril holds an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology and has taught at the university level. She currently works with the Middle East Institute at Georgia State University. In addition, Amani has lent her knowledge of dance and culture as advisor to the Georgia State University Dance Ensemble. She was extremely proud to be one of ten dance professionals selected to participate in the “First Cairo Seminar with Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy for Teachers and Professional Dancers” held in Cairo, Egypt. Some other honors include an invitation to lecture at the Second International Conference on Middle Eastern Dance (Costa Mesa, CA); nominations in 2006 and 2004 for Zaghareet Magazine’s Favorite Oriental Dancer and service as a member of the judges panel at the MEDINA dance competition and workshop in (St. Louis, MO).
A dynamic choreographer and engaging performer, Amani offers a variety of dance styles. "Sensational!" raved The Creative Spark after experiencing a stellar performance.
Amani performs regularly in the Atlanta area in addition to a number of special dance events throughout the year. She has been seen on CNN International and has performed for notable dignitaries and celebrities. You can also see Amani on her debut performance video, "Ya Amani," which includes live, impromptu performances of oriental and folklore.
